Bernd Supe-Dienes is the new Chairman of VDMA NRW
At its general meeting on 21 November 2018, the board of VDMA NRW elected Bernd Supe-Dienes, managing partner of Dienes Werke in Overath, as its new chairman.
The focus of his activities as Chairman of the Executive Board will be on maintaining and expanding the industrial location in North Rhine-Westphalia. At the same time, Supe-Dienes appealed to politicians in his inaugural speech not to further bureaucratise or tighten European rules in Germany. The aim of politics, he said, must be to give companies more freedom to make entrepreneurial decisions in competition and to take into account the needs of industrial SMEs with as little bureaucracy as possible.
“Whereas in the past our greatest challenges were of a technical or cyclical nature, today they are increasingly political interventions in the economy. Policies that are not well thought out are detrimental to German industry,” warned VDMA President Carl Martin Welcker and demanded: “As an association of small and medium-sized industrial enterprises, we must fight to ensure that we once again have reliable and, above all, free-market and free-trade-oriented framework conditions. We must play our part in defining industrial policy in Germany and Europe. We must demand a European agenda more loudly than before.”
New Board of VDMA North Rhine-Westphalia
The general meeting elected the board of VDMA NRW. Bernd Supe-Dienes, managing partner of Dienes Werke für Maschinenteile GmbH & Co. KG from Overath, was elected as the new chairman at the constituent board meeting. He succeeds Siegfried Koepp, former Managing Director of EMG Automation GmbH, who did not stand for election after two terms of office.
