Burst cut
A variation of the razor blade cutting method is the burst cut. Instead of a fixed blade, a thin circular knife rotating at high speed and with a very sharp cutting edge is used. In the bursting cut process, the sharp-ground circular knife is driven with a high lead compared to the material web speed. In this process, the circular knife dips into the material web between two deflection rollers. Alternatively, the material to be cut wraps around a support shaft provided with cutting grooves, into which the circular knife dips without contact. The lower support shaft is generally driven at web speed.
The burst cutting process is suitable for a wide variety of materials such as: hardboard, felt, rubber as well as foam-like plastics, carpet, wallpaper and flooring. We customize burst cutting tools to meet your specific requirements.
Important to achieve a perfect quality is an adapted knife lead to the material speed.
