Narrow cut
For the narrow cut, DIENES has developed special cutting cassettes for both crush cut and shear cut.
A cutting cassette consists of several individual holders, which are combined into groups at a fixed knife spacing. Since the cutting cassettes are modular, several cutting cassettes can be combined with each other. If a format change becomes necessary during the cutting process, the cassettes can be exchanged quickly and easily.
Crush cut slitting cassette
The crush cut slitting cassette, also known as score pack, is mounted in the machine either via a mounting frame or without any tools by using our “Quick Clamp”.
Since the cassette is manufactured as a complete unit, much more accurate manufacturing tolerances can be achieved and tolerance addition is significantly reduced or virtually eliminated. The crush cut slitting cassette is equipped with DIENES’ high quality crush cut knives.
Shear cut cutting cassette
To achieve the narrowest cutting widths for cutting outside tear tapes, security strips for banknotes, indicators and others, DIENES has slitting cassettes in shear cut in its product range, with which cutting widths from 0.5 mm can be realized. The cassettes are customized according to the required cutting width and number of cuts.
The shear cut cassettes are typically equipped with the patented DIENES Golden Slit top knives and bottom knives and various intermediate rings.
The cutting cassette is designed in such a way that a simple cutter shaft exchange is possible with just a few hand movements. Reproducible adjustment of the overlap depth and the axial movement of the upper knife shaft are ensured by knife clocks.
The infeed and outfeed shafts integrated in the cutting cassette can realize both a wrapped and a tangential material infeed.
Depending on the shaft and cutting tool dimensions, cutting speeds of up to 400 m/min are theoretically possible. The cutting speed is usually not limited by the cutting tools, but by the winding of the narrow rolls. Typically, 70-80 cuts are performed.
